First, your dog should see his vet for x-rays to determine just how bad his arthritis is. If it's just starting, likely all he'll need are glucosamine chondroitin with MSM supplements. The vet can advise how high a dosage he should start with to get his pain under control, then what to decrease it to for a maintenance dose.

If his arthritis is more severe, the vet will recommend prescription meds. In either case, your dog can be kept totally pain free. The vet can also make recommendations about how much exercise to give him. For example, my older dogs go for 2 or 3 shorter walks a day, rather than a long one.

Are you sure it's arthritis? A limp can mean other things, has he seen a vet?

If it is indeed arthritis, you can use Glucosamine, following the vets reccommend dosage and treatment. I however, suggest using PEOPLE quality Glucosamine. It's safer than the stuff approved for dogs.

Dog arthritis pain relief, Pet arthritis treatment using
chondroitin glucosamine, read about them here.
Since the symptoms for Lyme Disease are similar to those of arthritis, have a veterinarian test your dog to eliminate that possibility. The treatment for Lyme Disease is usually successful, but entirely different than treatment for arthritis joint pain. Canine Lyme Disease & Lyme Disease in humans.
A pet suffering from arthritis pain, a degenerative osteoarthritis of joints like the hips, spine, knees and elbows, responds to osteoarthritis treatment like liquid glucosamine chondroitin, quickly and favorably. If your pet has difficulty climbing stairs jumping on the bed or going for long walks, you need to consider dog arthritis medication. Approximately 25-30% of family pets suffer from dog arthritis, osteoarthritis. Broadly described by most veterinarians as DJD (degenerative joint disease), dog arthritis is just as painful and debilitating as it is for people. Now there is quick relief, effective dog arthritis pain relief.

Is chondroitin glucosamine the dog arthritis cure?
I believe that there is any arthritis cure, but we do know, first hand, that there is relief from arthritis pain, and that is how I can highly recommend Synflex because we've been giving it to our older dogs, and taking it ourselves daily, since April, 2002. The results have been both positive and remarkable. I wouldn't be a part of selling it, or recommending it, if it were not true. It works!

The vet can give you some mild anti-inflammatories that can help quite a bit. In addition, many people have a good deal of success supplementing with cod oil, Chondroiten, Glucosamine, and MSM. Your vet can recommend appropriate dosages of each for your particular dog. I have not heard of copper collars being at all successful. Even the versions for humans are generally worn at the joint with problems, I can't see that copper around a dog's neck would help at all with a limp.

I doubt a copper thing will help the dog.

Talk to your vet about diet, excersise and what to do. There are pain things he can take if needed. Also there are some natural things that could help if vet agrees.
