What the best treatment for a dog with arthritis?

He is only 7 and been active all of his life! Now he has a limp.
Has anyone tried one of those copper dog collars?

I doubt a copper thing will help the dog.
Talk to your vet about diet, excersise and what to do. There are pain things he can take if needed. Also there are some natural things that could help if vet agrees.

The vet can give you some mild anti-inflammatories that can help quite a bit. In addition, many people have a good deal of success supplementing with cod oil, Chondroiten, Glucosamine, and MSM. Your vet can recommend appropriate dosages of each for your particular dog. I have not heard of copper collars being at all successful. Even the versions for humans are generally worn at the joint with problems, I can’t see that copper around a dog’s neck would help at all with a limp.

Are you sure it’s arthritis? A limp can mean other things, has he seen a vet?
If it is indeed arthritis, you can use Glucosamine, following the vets reccommend dosage and treatment. I however, suggest using PEOPLE quality Glucosamine. It’s safer than the stuff approved for dogs.

First, your dog should see his vet for x-rays to determine just how bad his arthritis is. If it’s just starting, likely all he’ll need are glucosamine chondroitin with MSM supplements. The vet can advise how high a dosage he should start with to get his pain under control, then what to decrease it to for a maintenance dose.
If his arthritis is more severe, the vet will recommend prescription meds. In either case, your dog can be kept totally pain free. The vet can also make recommendations about how much exercise to give him. For example, my older dogs go for 2 or 3 shorter walks a day, rather than a long one.

Try to get medications and increse the exercise. Also start him a senior food. It will help him a lot. Also take him to the vet to get a check up
